Tala is the ‘robocop’ of trekking… It’ll take more than some missing sandals to stop this girl!

Yikes I see a new fashion line coming in. Shoes are just my favourate craze!
Tala I totally can relate to your story. We share a similar experience. A few weeks ago I went with some friends to Wadi Zarga Maa’en. And one of our colleagues broke off his sandals. We had a MacGyver as well, our guide Ali, who managed to find a piece of electric wire and somehow managed to rig the sandals back on our friend’s foot. After many rewiring stops the sandals were no longer wearable. Walking barefoot was our friend’s only choice. And yes he did give up at the end and refused to continue. Finally, I decided we don’t have much left to go and I gave him my shoes. Three minutes down the Wadi and I was looking for garbage, old shoes anything. Garbage was terribly missed, the wearable kind. Maybe we need a dress code warning signs at the entrance of such trails!!!!!!!
On another note your pictures of Wadi Ibn-Hammad are very inviting. I don’t know if I can manage to convince my sandal-less friend to join me for another hike.
Abed, join the club! I had an interesting sandal experience two years ago. It is amazing how a tiny little wire would be worth so much in such places if you don’t have the proper shoes on. I guess we take alot of things for-granted in this "convenient" city life of ours! Well, i guess the moral of such story could be: a sandal in hand is better than ten friends in a wadi =)
necessity is the "father" of invention, that was fun i am sure.
